- Stretch Your Potential. Certified yoga instructor Joie Connelly will teach a one hour yoga class from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the historic Maison Duchamp, located in the heart of historic St. Martinville. Students are asked to bring their own yoga mat and towls, and to wear loose fitting clothing. Shoes will be left at the door. Cost for the complete thirteen week yoga class will be $50.00. - Rotary Club Mardi Gras Ball. Annual formal Mardi Gras, sponsored by the St. Martinville Rotary Club. This year’s theme is “King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.” Tickets to the ball are $25 each, and each table seats eight people. - Spring into History - FREE school program. A special living history program about work and life in the 1800s will be held at Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site. The program will include tours through the Olivier Plantation House c. 1815 and the Acadian Farmstead given by costumed interpreters. Information about planting and the work that was done to prepare for spring will be the focus of this program. Volunteers and crafts people will be demonstrating basket making, spinning and weaving, shooting black powder guns and the making of bousillage. A hands on area where students can try out chores, toys and games from the period will be provided.

- The Cornucopia Ball. Annual Children’s Carnival, sponsored by the Creole Farmer’s Market Committee of St. Martinville. Every year the committee chooses a king and queen, debutantes and dukes, along with children ages pre-k to seventh grade to portray the theme’s characters. Past themes have included Nursery Rhymes, Fairies, The Renaissance, Under the Big Top, and That’s Entertainment, just to name a few. Every year a theme is chosen and the script is written to support the theme. This year the theme is “Louisiana Festivals”. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday February 17 and 18, respectively, at the Cade Community Center, Smede Hwy. The Friday, February 17th performance is the dress rehearsal and it begins at 7:00 p.m. with admission being $ 10.00 per person. The actual ball will take place on Saturday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. and admission is $ 15.00 per person. Tables are still available for the Saturday night if groups of 8 would like to purchase one. A table of 8 sells for $100. There will be extra open seating that night, as well. On Saturday night a DJ will play until 11:00 p.m. for the children and their parents to enjoy. This is a non-alcoholic event. Refreshments will be sold by a local youth / school organization.
