May 24-25, 2013: The Creole Zydeco & Okra Festival
Festival Grounds on Bayou Teche, 203 N. New Market St., St. Martinville, LA. This will be the first year in which the two original festivals (Okra Festival and Creole Zydeco Festival) are combined into a special two day event. This event supports the African-American Museum and is sponsored by Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. and Ladies Auxiliary as well as the African-American Museum. Friday 6pm-11pm, Band: Geno Delafose and Terry & the Zydeco Bad Boys. Saturday 11am-12 midnight, Bands: Side Show, Keith Frank, Zydeco Ray, and Curley Taylor. Okra cook-off will be held on Saturday morning. There will be great food, crafts, kid’s carnival, a Zydeco Dance Marathon, and on-site RV parking available. $5 per person and children 12 and under get in free. Ride tickets are on sale now for $1.00 per ticket and can be purchased at City Hall, the Elementary, or Trinity Catholic School in town.
